Went to see Buck 65 last night. He was awesome, even coming down into the crowd after he'd finished his set. If you don't know who he is I strongly suggest you look him up on Spotify/YouTube.

I'll probably go see him next time he's in London, let me know if you want to come.

So we enter the final week of the countdown to election day. All the (televised) debates are done. We are all tired. But now is the time to think about what we really want for the next five years.

Many have said that they hate Gordon Brown, others that David Cameron is just too slimy, and far more that Nick Clegg is "untested".  Plenty (perhaps most) of those preparing to vote Labour are doing so to prevent the Conservatives getting into power, while an equal amount are voting Conservative because they're sick of Labour. Then there are those that would agree with the Lib Dem’s policies, if only they knew what they were, but have been scared out of ever voting for them by the perennial call “But it’s easy to say that when you’re never going to win”.

I would like to vote Green (as I’m sure most of you know), and there are surely many who would like to vote for smaller parties or independents. But we know that under our current system of government there is little point. Our plurality voting system has lead us into this position where we face watching either the Labour or Conservative parties governing our country forever. I don’t want that, do any of us really want that?

So I propose a truce. I won’t vote Green. All you have to do is join me in voting for the Liberal Democrats.

You may not agree with all of their policies. Hell, you may not agree with most of their policies. But this is our chance to change this country for the better. The Lib Dems will push through electoral reform, even if they don’t win outright. This will allow us all, in the future, to vote for who we really believe in, not against who we don’t.

Let’s not allow this opportunity disappear. It may be our last chance for a generation.

If you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica you'll love this. Even if you're not it is well worth a watch.
Try to watch both videos at the same time (requires some pretty speedy clicking to get them in time) to appreciate how well it's been done.

    Dear Diane Abbott,

Like everyone else in this country I am worried about the level of debt
that the banks, this government, and many individuals have contributed
to, and have been interested in ways to alleviate this problem.

While increasing the top rate of tax is important, and reigning in
bankers bonuses is satisfying, neither of these options will pull the
UK out of recession, pay of the national debt, or improve the
well-being of the majority of the population.

However, when Gordon Brown brought up a Tobin tax at the G20 summit
recently I was a little shocked. This is exactly the kind of measure
that many people have been suggesting for months, and exactly the kind
of measure that is needed now.

Thus my message to you is please, please, please do what you can to
support this idea. Bring it up in parliament, campaign on its behalf,
vote on it if the chance arises. The amount of money that could be
raised would make a massive difference and would allow the government
to continue with the positive social programmes that have been so
important, and that, unfortunately, may have to be abandoned due to
    lack of money.

    Yours sincerely,

    Nicholas Watts

  • About

Born in '83, I've grown up around the world but have settled in London for now. My interests are pretty varied, though tend to revolve around sitting in front of a computer 'educating' myself. I never used to care much for sports but now can somehow get transfixed with just about any sporting fixture (bar F1, is that really a sport?) so long as it's on and someone is talking about it.

Also I'm a medical student, take from that either that I'm an upstanding member of the community (medic) or plague upon civil society (student).
